We were delighted that Sir Michael Parkinson CBE agreed to be the NZ-UK Link Foundation’s Guest of Honour at a reception held at Premier House, Thorndon, Wellington, courtesy of the Prime Minister, the Honourable John Key. Sir Michael was in conversation with Ian Fraser. Guests came along to get up close and personal with one of Britain’s national treasures.

Members from the Choir of Wellington Cathedral of St Paul sang at the 14th Annual Meeting of Friends of the Link which took place at the British High Commissioner's residence, Homewood, Karori in Wellington, New Zealand on Thursday 23rd April 2009. The New Zealand Society's annual glamorous black-tie Waitangi Day dinner took place on Friday 6 February 2009 in London, when the Air New Zealand New Zealander of the Year was also announced. Guest speaker was the entertaining Jeremy Coney who has been described as 'former international cricketer, raconteur, author, radio and TV commentator, teacher, student and man of letters.'

Marking the opening of the Guild of Agricultural Journalists & Communicators 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2008, a promising young agricultural journalist, Tim Fulton, was presented with the UK-NZ Link Foundation Rural Journalist Travel Award at a function at the British Consulate-General in Auckland on Monday 21st April 2008. Hosted by British Honorary Consul-General John Waugh, guests also had the opportunity to hear from BBC environmental journalist Alex Kirby during his fleeting visit to New Zealand.
