Dr David Erdos, a recent Link Foundation Social Science Award scholar denies that New Zealand’s departure from the Privy Council indicates a weakening of the relationship between Britain and New Zealand. On the contrary, he says, the two countries continue a very wide, multi-faceted and mutually beneficial dialogue on a whole range of constitutional issues. David who studied at Oxford and Princeton universities was a guest at Victoria University of Wellington in 2005 and has since returned to the UK as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of York. David Conradson of the UK's Southampton University was the 2006 NZ-UK Link Foundation Social Science Scholar. He won the travel grant to conduct research in New Zealand looking at the provision of residential care of the aged. He worked with the Ministries of Health and Social development looking at the provision for residential care of the aged in both countries.
The £10,000 NZ-UK Link Foundation Social Science Award scheme is intended to support comparative social and policy research that strengthens the relationship between the two countries. The scholarship funds travel and living expenses for visits to New Zealand of between one and three months. Applicants are expected to be British nationals working and living in the UK.
