Edinburgh’s famous Fringe Festival might have closed at the end of August, but they’ll hear the fun carrying on in Wellington. Come and enjoy ‘A Night in Edinburgh’ on Friday 8 September 2006 at Wellington’s premier waterfront venue, the Boat Shed.

Organised by the NZ-UK Link Foundation, in conjunction with the City of Wellington Pipe Band, which has played at the Edinburgh Tattoo, the full Scottish experience is on offer including pipers, plenty of kilts, piping in the haggis, a ‘nod to Burns’ and a band and dancing. After pre-dinner drinks, British High Commissioner His Excellency George Fergusson will welcome the guests in smart/kilt dress into the evening’s festivities that also include dinner and an enjoyable auction of some amazing items.

This is a major biennial fund-raiser for the Link Foundation, which exists to enhance the links between New Zealand and the UK. It does that through a series of education, vocational and cultural exchanges and fellowships. Highly-valued support is being given by Booker-Spalding Limited, Hunter’s Wines, Trinity Hill Wines and Grove Mill, Pivotal Services (previously known as Ultra Copy), The Famous Grouse whisky and Reynard Health Services. Auction items have already been offered by Government House, Jenny Clark, Lawrie Bryant, National Bank Private Banking, Weta Workshop, Wellington Flight Experience, Zest Food Tours and Zibibbo Restaurant.  Other sponsorship opportunities are available. Call the Link office if you think you can help.

Tickets are $110 for Friends of the NZ-UK Link or $125 for guests (GST inclusive) and available from the Link's Wellington office. Cheques should be made payable to the NZ-UK Link Foundation. For tickets and further information, download a booking form here, email the Link's Wellington office or telephone on 04-924 2800, fax 04-473 4982.
