Agricultural Emissions Focus for Fellow

Winner of the 2008 NZ-UK Link Foundation Rural Journalist Fellowship, Tim Fulton, has left for his whirlwind tour of the UK where he will examine perceptions of food miles and what effect this will have on New Zealand and British agriculture and retailing and to look at the management of agricultural emissions.  For news about other Fellows see The Wellington Cathedral Choir Tour of the UK in July, Top UK Business School Offers $100,000 Scholarship, Helen Lear's Curtain Call in Edinburgh and Raising Film's Profile in the Digital Age.

Dunedin's Southern Sinfonia will be visited in August by the founding conductor of London's Southbank Sinfonia, Simon Over.  While here, Simon will undertake talks with the Sinfonia about ways in which they can continue their contact with each other, auditions for the Elman Poole awards (and others) and masterclasses.

The Scottish Poetry Society has launched The Fern and Thistle which will feature writers based in Scotland introducing their favourite New Zealand poets, in what is hoped might become a regular poetry exchange.  The initiative includes an online collaboration, live readings and a new collection of over 60 books available from the Scottish Poetry Library. 

At a function at Government House in Auckland on 6th June, Governor-General the Hon Anand Satyanand congratulated the Link Foundation and its many volunteers for their ongoing work, vision and determination.  The reception was intended to raise awareness of the Link Foundation in Auckland and included an inspiring account by 2007 Linking Minds Fellow Greg Thornton, of the benefits of the Linking Minds programme.
