Venue: Westminster Kingsway College
Cost: Invitation only

The 2010 UK Culinary Challenge, organised by The British Craft Guild of Chefs and The NZ-UK Link Foundation took place at Westminster Kingsway College on Monday 15 November 2010.

Young British chef Ben Murphy, a 19 year old commis chef from The Berkeley, a five-star London hotel (pictured right), won the 2010 NZ-UK Young Chef's Challenge at a cook-off against seven rivals at Westminster's Kingsway College on 15 November. Read more about it here.

Once again the opportunity was offered for a young chef to experience a unique all expenses paid three-week tour of New Zealand, working in the country's best restaurants and lodges and visiting food producers and wineries.

Entrants could either be nominated or enter themselves, by 1 October 2010. Competitors were to be aged between 18 and 23 years old as of 1st December 2010, in training or employment and hold a British passport.

The winner was offered an all expenses paid three-week trip to NZ to work in some of the top NZ restaurants. The restaurants and colleges of all eight finalists received a complimentary case of Trinity Hill Wines.

The eight finalists and two nominated guests were invited to an official Awards ceremony, hosted by the NZ High Commissioner in the Penthouse Suite of New Zealand House, London on the early evening of 15 November. This venue has breathtaking 360º views of London, and directly overlooks Trafalgar Square. Guests enjoyed the culinary delights of Peter Gordon of The Providores and some fine NZ wines supplied by Trinity Hill. The Guest of Honour will present the winners with certificates and prizes.
